Last weekend on Sunday afternoon I had a family session scheduled with the C family in downtown Bakersfield. But the night before we found out that it was going to be rainy in the afternoon (I know it’s super unusual for Bakersfield!). So we rescheduled it to early in the morning. I was so impressed that this beautiful family was all dressed up perfectly and ready to meet me in downtown at 8:30AM. Do I need to say that we had a great session? Look at those pretty photos!

When I first started photography, I thought I needed more.😊
More props.
More setups.
More decorations.
More everything.
Over time, I realized that the images I kept coming back to were always the simplest ones.
The photo of a newborn peacefully sleeping.
A mother holding her baby.
A family laughing together.
A child showing their personality without distractions.
I found myself removing things instead of adding them.
What started as a style choice eventually became a reflection of how I see people. I don’t want the background, props, or trends to be the star of the image. I want you to be.
That’s how my photography evolved into a cleaner, brighter, more organic style.
Not because it’s trendy.
Not because it’s popular.
Because years from now, I want you to look at your photos and see your connection, your love, your little one’s tiny features—not the props that were popular at the time.
Simple doesn’t mean less meaningful.
