One night when I was about to fall asleep on the couch I got an Instagram message from Stacey. She was inquiring about a wildflowers photo session. We had done a wildflowers session a few years ago which included her entire family. This time it was for her and her three boys only. A lot had changed in her life and family since our last session. Most importantly, she was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months ago. She had been going through a lot of stuff…
I still remember the day when I photographed Stacey’s family a few years ago. Her youngest son was only a few months old, and her middle son, Leo, was super active and energetic during the session. As I was trying to take photos of him, he was running, running, running.. :) Stacey’s calmness and easygoing personality is still in my mind. I was so impressed that she was able to keep her cool and go with the flow the entire time. She was smiling no matter what his son does. She was perfectly happy with his ‘running away’ images because that was so ‘him’…
That day I realized she would never ever force her kids for anything (aka taking photos), and she would do anything to not to lose her temper…
That was so sweet and inspiring for me as a mom…
This time our photo session was not much different. Leo was still so active :) Such a happy and cute boy with a lot of energy! And Stacey was still so content. She had lost her hair but she didn’t lose a bit from her strength and happiness.
I can’t wait for her to kick cancer’s ass soon…
P.S. After I posted a few photos from Stacey’s session on social media, I had a previous client of mine generously offered to gift her some prints from her session. She wanted to keep her name anonymous. How sweet is that! That was such a beautiful act of kindness.
Stacey was so happy to order a black folio box with 20 matted prints in it, and she was so grateful for that mom who gifted those to her. I’m sure those photos will be treasured forever by herself and her sweet sons that absolutely adore their mama…
